Hamish and Dom are the kind of people that do everything with a full heart. They are absolutely dedicated to sharing the simple joys of living close to the earth through their family winery which includes 3 vineyards, a winery restaurant, compost operations, olive trees, and avocados among other things. The winery restaurant has been built largely by Hamish and is a treasure-box tree-house with Totara fence post ceilings and drift wood palisades.
The asparagus paddock was something Hamish put in because it seemed like a good idea and it has been producing asparagus for the restaurant and local vege shop ever since. The paddock got a big dump of Hamish's compost a year back and he thinks that accounts for why the asparagus is so crisp, tender and tasty this year. Harvesting the asparagus involves walking down the rows with Hamish and Dom, taking 2 rows at a time, chatting whilst bending down to break the spears as they pop up through the grass. Too lovely!
Hamish and Dom have been a part of the community rallying to support the Palestinians in Gaza at the Sound Shell every Saturday for the past year and all proceeds from the sale of their asparagus this year are being donated to the cause.
