Introducing Superfoods: Ashwagandha

We are pleased to welcoming superfoods into the Mai Kai community. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary a superfood is “a food (such as salmon, broccoli, or blueberries) that is rich in compounds (such as antioxidants, fiber, or fatty acids) considered beneficial to a person's health,” From our experiences superfoods tend to be the ancestral foods of indigenous people from all corners of the globe, foods that are held sacred to the people, respected and protected  for their unique ability to sustain their people.

"At Ceres Organics we like to keep things clean and simple. That’s why our organic ashwagandha powder is just that! Grown by ‘working with nature’, using no chemical pesticides, herbicides or artificial fertilisers. Also known as ‘Indian Ginseng’, this potent herb is ground from the root of the perennial Withania Somnifera plant. It was prized by the ancients for uses extending beyond food, and is a mainstay of Ayurveda. In fact, in Sanskrit it means “the smell of a horse,” hinting it has the ability to impart energy and strength. Today ashwagandha is reaching new levels of awareness and respect. Totally google-worthy! Traditionally taken with honey and hot milk, it’s great mixed into a comforting tea or tonic. A little goes a long way - Just add 1/4 - 1 teaspoon of this powered goodness to 1 cup of liquid."
